Your planning checklist
- Confirm entry requirements. Check Sri Lankan immigration’s official guidance for your nationality and circumstances before paying for travel. Rules can change.
- Choose your region. Read the seasonal overview before committing to beach accommodation.
- Sketch overnight stops. Keep arrival and departure days flexible. Do not fill every transfer day with fixed activities.
- Compare transport. Check whether your route works by train or bus, or whether a transfer better fits your needs.
- Check accommodation details. Confirm room type, air conditioning or fans, location, access, cancellation terms and the total payable amount.
- Build a realistic budget. Separate accommodation, meals, transport, paid attractions and a contingency. Ask providers for current quotes.
- Recheck shortly before departure. Look for weather alerts, service changes and updated opening information.
