Why do you offer free ads?
Free classified advertising is a convenient, and easy way for people in similar areas to search, sell and buy their items. It gives you the opportunity to find exactly what youโre looking for or sell to the right buyer in your area. It provides business owners with the exact target audience they need to promote their products or services.
Do I have to register?
You only have to register if you wish to place an ad. You can browse and respond to the ads without registering.
How do I Post Free an ad?
You can find โPost Free an Ad' button in home page or Visit your profile page and find 'Post Free an Ad' and follow the simple instructions.
How do I delete my ad?
To delete an ad, please go to your profile page and find your ad and click on the "Delete" option.
Note: You can find your ad easily by login in to your account and visiting your "profile" page!
How do I edit my ad?
To edit an ad, please go to your profile page and find your ad and click on the "edit" option.
Note: You can find your ad easily by login in to your account and visiting your "profile" page!
How do I change a new password to my account?
To change your account password, please go to your profile page after login and find update profile button on header area on your browser and click on the "change password" option and follow the simple instructions.

How do I reset my password if I have forgotten?
Go to login page and click the โforgot your password?โ link
Give your email address of your registed email on Lanka Living
Open your email, click the password reset link and change your new password
Note: If you have created an account via Facebook, you will not have a Lanka Living password. You can log in to your account via Facebook without a password.
Will other users be able to see my personal information?
No, The information that you provide during registration does not show up on your ads, only your username. However, you can have your email or phone number appear if you enter that information when you place your actual ad.
How much does it cost to post an ad?
Most classified ads on Marion Online are free. There are some sections and ads that require you to pay a fee in future (we will release advance system soon). Those sections are listed on our policies page If you are a business, you must pay a fee for your ad regardless of the section you are posting in.
Whatโs the difference between a business ad and a private party ad?
Business ads are for business owners. They are not eligible for free advertising. Private party ads are for anyone who is a non-business owner. These ads are eligible for free classified advertising. If you are a private party trying to sell more than 3 of the same item, you will be considered a business.
How many free classified ads can I submit?
Private parties may submit up to 5 free classified ads. If you have other ads currently running, you must either cancel or replace those ads. You may choose to run more than 5 ads we will cost in future for additional ad.
How long will my free classifieds ads run?
Your free ads will run until you delete or replace your ads.

Being Safe on Lanka Living
Lanka Living Basics:
People can advertise thousands of things on Lanka Living. But itโs not the right place for everything. Before posting, check our โitems you can't buy or sellโ on Lanka Living. If you try to advertise one of these we will remove your ads without any information. Also If you try to advertise of these again and again we will block your account or we will have rights to take legal action against you.
Under 18?
Itโs 18 and over here please.
Also, you can only sell items based in the SriLanka
No duplicates please
Donโt create more than one ad for the same item, or create multiple accounts.
Donโt leave it live
Once your ad has done its job, delete it. If you donโt, other users might still contact you about it, which is a nuisance for them and you.

Our categories work hard to connect the right ad with the right buyer. Youโll get better results when your ad appears in the right place.
Writing a great ad
Follow the ad template
Keep website links and contact details in the designated place and out of your ad title, description and photos. Donโt be tempted to spam with keywords.
Steer clear of disputes by writing a clear and honest description of your item.
Use plain English and keep it clean. That goes for the images you post too. Youโre welcome to add a translation in another language in your item description. Ads that clearly state what the item is are easier for users to find
The price is right
Clearly state the price you want for your item.
Aim for face-to-face
Donโt say youโll only send an item in the post. Lanka Living is a community. We encourage our users to meet face-to-face whenever possible.
What's not allowed on Lanka Living?
We donโt let people sell anything illegal or unsafe on Lanka Living. Or something our community has asked us not to list. If we feel youโve posted a banned item, weโll ask you to take remove it ourselves.
Hereโs our list of items which we donโt allow:
Adult-only
Adult entertainment, like blue movies, Alcohol, Enhancing drugs, Sex toys.
Animal parts
Including parts of protected species.
But taxidermy is fine, unless itโs a protected animal.
Animal traps
Except fish traps and pony traps, which are actually carts.
Drugs, drug paraphernalia and prescription goods
- Any item designed only to help someone take drugs
- Contact lenses (because theyโre prescription)
- Illegal drugs
- Legal highs
- Prescription drugs, including ones you can buy over the counter
Fake, replica or trademark items
Copies can be pirated, duplicated, backed-up and bootlegged. So itโs no to.
Anything fake, copied or unauthorised
Something with a company name/logo but wasnโt made or endorsed by them
Firearms and ammunition (even if theyโre legal to buy)
Ammunition, including ammo for paintball, Guns, including air guns, replica guns, paintball guns and silencers, Hunting equipment.
But paintball equipment (goggles, gloves etc) is allowed
Human parts, remains or services
Blood, bone and waste, Donor, surrogacy and fertility services, Organs, Sperm and eggs
Personal information or mailing lists
Bulk emails, Internet Protocol (IP), instant messenger (IM), or mailing lists that contain names, addresses, phone numbers or other personal info
Tools or software designed to send spam
Stolen goods
- Anything stolen
- Blocked phones or no-signal phones
Weโll help the police convict anyone who deals in stolen goods.
Used underwear
Briefs, knickers, thongs, boxer shorts, nappies and so on
Weapons and knives
- Chef and kitchen knives
- Crossbows and archery sets
- Historical and ornamental weapons (like Samurai swords and bayonets)
But itโs fine to sell knives as part of cutlery set.
